CHOGM - A Diplomatic Affair

Should India succumb to the hue and cry of Tamilains especially in the wake of resolution in Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly?. Beyond that, should India hear the voice of global community against the genocide happened in Srilanka against LTTE?. Fuming debates are going on.

Amidst all the discussions and confusions , Common Wealth Head of Governemnt Meeting is going to be held in Colombo, Srilanka. It is true that Srialankan Army brutally massacred many LTTE members and even they killed son of Prabhakaran mercilessly. It is condemnable and should be questioned. That is why India voted against Srilanka in UNGRC. India always stands for peace and tranquility. When US planned to strike against Syria, India voiced its concern. Though we didn't question the integrity US who used a Agent Orange in Vietnam war, Atom Bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and many brutalities in Afgan, Iran and Iraq, we favor all the actions for global peace and prosperity.
Now the question is - Is CHOGM the platform to air our disagreement? Obviously we can. But not by abstaining from the venue. It is not feasible to sacrifice our national interest based on a minority interest. We still remember the disgrace we gained, when our PM visited Bangladesh last time. Only based on the Mamata's Trinamool sentiments and political agends, India lashed out the hopes of Bangladesh over Teesta
river.

If C V Vigneswaram, Tamil Chief Minister of Sri Lanka in Northern Province can inaugurate the CHOGM event, why we can't attend; it is the sensible question asked by Chidambaram. Also, geo-politically, Sri Lanka is in the most crucial position and we need to continue healthy tie with Sri Lanka. When China tries to dominate us by vehement String of Pearls Policy and strive to influence coercially and strategically our neighboring countries, any cool approach by India may harmful affect our wide interest.

W e can't ignore the fact that Chinese footprints are growing in the region especially in Sri Lanka and Bangaladesh. Considering the national security, we should prefer regional cooperation with more importance. India must reach out to neighbours in bilateral and multilateral ways.

We cannot ignore our foreign policy or decide our national agenda based on regional political parties desires and minority sentiments.
