Salute to the man who dared us to dream

The day is still my memory - the full page view on the 'angel of mercy' - Mother Theresa. It was on the morning of 6th September 1997, while I was walking through the street holding hands of my father, the image of Mother in the newspaper reads by a man stands beside the Narayan's shop, sparked my eye. Though it was not clear, I suddenly realized - Oh ! the angel passed away. I was feeling a gloom encircling me, because Great Mother Theresa had already touched my heart and soul. I felt very upset at the sad demise of Mother, as she had dignified position in my inner heart. The lessons and learning from my school text books always made me to look her with awe. There was neither newspaper nor Radio in my house or nearby places.

After 18 years, 5 September 1997, a an incident in par with this intensity recurred. My friend ran out from the room to switch on the television - shouting 'Kalam is no more' ! We were shocked. He was like a living legend to us and it was impossible to believe such a  vibrant man is no more with us, very suddenly. While back to office; colleagues, friends, seniors every one have only one topic - Kalam, Oh ! Kalam, he left us. I too felt an eternal gloom again encircles me.  A man who dared us to dream big, a man who powered dreams of billions, a legend who had given human face to everyone and many more.

My memories back to down the lane to 'the wings of fire', a poor boy showing her helplessness to write the ISRO exam, as there is only line vacancy. His father reply was thought provoking - "son, how many seats do you need? you need only one seat, so try for that. Dr. Kalam was  also thankful to his elder brothers who sacrificed a lot for making his way to glory.

Inspired by many stories, I too wrote a letter my President during my school days, mentioning poverty; it was unheard.  However, I was not disappointed, as I realized later - 'that was only to write a letter'. He was a man who inspired us to dream. He always said -

“Dream, Dream DreamDreams transform into thoughts

And thoughts result in action.”

He prompted the poor to dream. He stood for the people at the ground and shown us a way. Irrespective of caste, creed, color - he was an emulating role model for everyone. It is hard to realize that we don't have no more Kalam to inspire young minds. Truly, he was a rare among rarest who poured igniting fires in to mind of millions.  An always cherished quote by Dr. Kalam - “Dream is not that which you see while sleeping it is something that does not let you sleep.” is suffice to guide us ahead.

May God Almighty give peace to his ever living soul.
